Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Style Refresh is for those who are looking for a stylist-curated wardrobe update, but not a detailed personal style assessment. This could be for a special event, a holiday, a new job or a capsule for the new season. The shop includes up to 15 pieces.

The Style Discovery takes this a step further by adding a detailed personal style assessment, including colour analysis, body shape analysis and style personality. The resulting personal shop is much more tailored to your specific needs and features. You’ll leave not only with a refreshed wardrobe, but armed with the information you need to make great styling decisions going forwards.

The Style Transformation takes this a step further still. We’ll do a wardrobe edit together, assessing your existing items against our new knowledge of what truly suits you, deciding together what to move on and styling up whatever stays. The personal shop here is focused on filling any wardrobe gaps to help you to achieve your desired style. This experience also comes with a fully bespoke personal style guide to refer back to, and follow on support as you embody your new style.

Colour analysis is a stand alone experience for those who are interested in finding the colours that harmonise with their natural features.

  • Not to be confused with a wedding venue stylist, a wedding stylist focuses on the clothing and accessories side of weddings, supporting all members of the wedding party in their styling decisions.

  • I use the four season draping method, but will also give a sub-season from the 12 season approach if it’s relevant for you.

The four season draping method is a process where four different tones of a colour are placed against the client’s face, and differences are observed in their appearance. The right tones will make them look healthy and bright and will minimise any fine lines, shadows or marks, whereas the wrong tones will do the opposite.

The 12 season approach essentially combines the four basic seasons with the tonal approach to colour analysis. It is based on assessing a person’s primary and secondary characteristics out of temperature (warm vs cool), chroma (bright vs muted) and value (light vs dark), and following a logic to give a sub-season.

The 12 season system can be useful for really narrowing down the colours that harmonise with a complexion, but, humans are so varied and sometimes people defy the logic behind it, glowing in palettes they’re not logically ‘meant’ to. On the other hand, as they say in the London College of Style, the drapes never lie!

Often, though, the draping process will end up revealing a client’s sub-season anyway. For example, if I was stuck between autumn and spring for a client, it is likely because warmth is their primary characteristic, which would place them in either warm autumn or warm spring. If I was stuck between spring and winter on the other hand, brightness is likely their primary characteristic, placing them in bright spring or bright winter.

Others may simply be more neutral across the three dimensions of colour, in which case attempting to narrow them down into one of 12 seasons rather than the larger four seasons is neither accurate nor helpful. Fewer seasons mean more colours per season, and more colours mean more fun, so I’ll only go into the 12 season system if it’s genuinely useful to you.
